I made a synthetic UQ (well actually my wife made it for me) using 5osy climashield from thru-hiker. It's 48 inches by 72 inches and rectangular in shape. I struggled for a while with the suspension. I tried a few things that didn't work and then finally hit on this. I was going to use my old Byer traveller hammock anyway and it has nylon lines running from the hook to the hammock for supension. I had my wife sew 5 grosgrain loops to each end. Then I threaded a line back and forth between the nylon suspension lines and the grosgrain loops. Then I put a micro line-loc around this line to hold it on. That makes the UQ suspension adjustable.
Now since this is a square UQ there are necessarily some gaps at the end. But these don't seem to let in much cold air. I can feel with my hand that everywhere my body touches the quilt is tight up against the hammock. I tried it on a night when temps got down to 36 F and was toasty!
