Some horse peope don't care. The trail I was on back in August at Cave Run Lake was shut down for horses and mt bikers due to damage from the ice storms and other factors, but after talking to someone down there and they told me that the horse people were on the trail the week after it was close to them. Some people really p*** me off when they do this crap.

Firewalker & I are coming from Cincinnati, Hard to tell when we are leaving & stuff. Will try to make it to caravan if we can. Both of us have been to the campsite, so finding it ain't no thing.

Either way is a good way. I always take the Slade exit, but then I'm a creature of habit when it comes to driving, besides, I like going thru the Nada Tunnel. I may even have Firewalker drop me off at the Koomer Campground & walk in that way, those few trails around there are the only trails in RRG I have not done.

Here is a simple map of the planned campsite. At least I hope it posts.

Route #1 is in Red, route #2 is in Blue all other trails & roads are black. The solid blue line is the Red river.

If that changes, I think we have room for you to tag along. Leaving the natty sometime in the AM Friday.

That's really nice of you, but I have to work Friday and Saturday that weekend. It was that weekend, Christmas Eve, or New Year's Day, and I'll be out of town visiting family over Christmas. I'll catch up with you all yet....

I led a backpacking trip through this area back in July. All of those sites along the creek had been roped off by the rangers with signs stating that there is no camping there. They're cracking down on the campsites that are breaking the rules of being too close to water or roads.

My new favorite is Hanson's Point just up the hill. Beautiful views but you have to bring in your water.

Still waiting to see if we will have company coming at Thanksgiving or not. If not, I may be able to get away. Otherwise, not going to be able to make it.

Now, do I root for getting to see family I haven't seen for a while, or root for them not to come so I can camp -- tough choice! .
