    Tarp Seam Sealing?

Okay so I'm working on a hex tarp out of 1 ounce hyper-d fabric. Will waterproof later. I sewed the two pieces together using a felled seam, but I can clearly see the thread holes along the seam. I don't know if a silicone treatment will be able to satisfactorily close the holes to the point where water won't get through. How do you waterproof the seams? Some sort of seam tape? Or did I use the wrong kind of seam?

I always use permatex flowable silicone on my ridgeline seams. You can get it at auto zone.

thanks! I'll try that. I had a bottle of seam sealer I got from walmart in the camping section, I used it on something before and it worked okay. I can't find it now, haha.

HyperD is PolyUrethane Coated, not siliconized like silnylon or silpoly.

You need Seam Grip instead of silicone (eg Sil Net or flowable silicone).

I just finished a MYOG backpack that is HyperD 300 with seam grip sealant on the interior seams. We tested the holy heck out of the seam seal this weekend and it came through perfectly.
