    removeable top cover?

I looked and looked, but didn't find what I was looking for.
Has anyone either made or had made, a top that attaches via zipper, to total enclose a HH, or any other hammock for that matter.

Kinda like a convertible top, when the top is unzipped and removed,, the bug net would still be in place. just thinking......

I think he sees a typical tent door system where there are two zipper tracks, one with a bugnet, one with a waterproof door that has flaps that overhang and protect the zippers.
I can see a Mod #2 with this feature where they can each be rolled up and stowed separately against the side when not needed.

Thumbs up My version of an over cover

I made a quick top cover that I tested last night actually. I have the zipper mod on the right side. The over cover I made is MARPAT 1.1 uncoated and cut to hang just below the net line. on the ends it goes past the hammock and has a six inch or there about velcro end and then arc's down along the side. I put about 8 to 10 inches of velcro there too. That really secures the top and allows it to cover the ends of my KAQ.

There are loops for the un-zippered side tie out to pass through allowing that side to be secure but not fully tight against the side .. idea is to hold heat but allow breathability. On the zipper side there is a loop but it attaches to the tie out line with a mini-biner.

Below is a shot of my sleep set up last night ... sorry I don't have better shots of the over cover ... but I will post some after our Linville Gorge hang next week.

I used an indoor/outdoor thermometer to measure the differences ... inside the hammock an hour and a half after beding down you can see the reading below. During the night it never got lower than 14 degrees different when the temps got lower ...

Now I didn't have my tarp closed up ... and I didn't have any noticeable wind last night. In the morning there was slight dampness to the over cover but no problem condensation. So works for me.

Looks pretty good, Hawk-eye -- thanks for the report. I've been thinking of combining a top cover with a taco, and comparing it against JustJeff's sock configuration and the travelpod ideas Jeff and Risk describe.

I'm kind of a sweaty guy so I didn't want to fully encapsulate myself. But I know how much heat just the no-seum netting will capture (especially when you don't want it to!) so ... I figured a little light weight cover would pay for itself. I was especially tickled the condensation was only a little dampness and not one of those gluing the netting to the over cover situations.

I got the look from the wife when she saw me rigging the meter ...
