OH ... and my sewing skills kinda suck. The good thing about Camo ... a crooked seam just blends in!

What I rigged I did with about three yards of material ... it was cheap & quick to make and I actually cut the thing hanging over the ridge line with my daughter sitting in it to determine my arc and just snipped it out with the scissors. I had enough fabric left over for a bunch of stuff sacks and stuff.

It appears I'm kinda sweaty myself. I ended up with a little condensation on top of the leaf bag under me in a Garlington Insulator set up. I'd left my bug net in place when I did that to cut the drafts a little, so I'm thinking a top cover in the same basic pattern as my bug net would do okay.

My wife has long since quit giving me the look... now she just shrugs.

P.S. I refer to my mistakes as "design features".

Ha ... I'm in between the "look" and the "Shrug" Now what's bad is when the dog gives you the look!

Since I let the edge hang on it's own weight except on the ends and the tie out points ... I've got mine a couple inches lower than the net line. In a strong wind I'd have my tarp pulled around me so that's not an issue to me. I like it loose around the edges to avoid the condensation factor as much as possible and I think that works better than a hole over your head. At least to my way of thinking. I have the zipper mod so that also makes entering and exiting the hammock easier.

Sounds good. Like you, I prefer to keep things a little bit open, rather than all buttoned up tight. My bug net goes over the ends of my (end-channel type) hammock much like the foot end of a travel pod at each end, but open on the bottom. I'll try the same approach with the top cover. Probably will lace the ends together with shock cord, though, instead of using velcro like I did with the bug net.

SURE ... I almost did that myself ... but had the velcro sitting there and was short of any good shock cord ... so it ended up velcro.
