Super Shelter and Whoopie Sling Conversion

I've been toying with doing a conversion to whoopie slings for a little while now, but before I make the switch, I'm curious if anyone is still using the super shelter with the whoopie slings? If you are, anything I should be aware of when reattaching the undercover?

I am. If you are making your own whoopies, just make sure that you leave enough room for the tarp suspension.

I've been using that combo for two years. Has worked quite well. I'll be upgrading to an UQ in a month when it arrives.

Hey WJ, I see you are way up there. What kind of temps have you used your HHSS in?

Megatate, especially with the newer type HHSS( out for years now), the whoopies should be no problem. The zip lock mitten hook connects right at the end of the knot cover, so you don't have to attach Prussicks to the suspension line. Of course, if you still attach your tarp to the suspension line, you might have to work around that.

Thanks BillyBob. The switch was very easy. But you're right, I'm struggling to attach the prussick knots back on to the suspension. I've tested it attached to the loops and I'm not loving it. Will need to find a different way to attach it or make my own with a longer bury. Or hang the tarp separately.

Most importantly: the HHSS easily reattached!

megatate- instead of a prusik, you can try a kleimheist with 3 or 4 wraps instead of the original prusik. They tend to grab a bit better, although a little more complex to wrap. My HHUL has them and I was able to get them to grip the whoopies just fine after conversion with an extra wrap.

Otherwise, do as MANY do here and put your tarp on its own line.

I've used it down to about 2C on a regular basis with a windshield reflector. I find I need to leave the foam out between trips now or it won't loft up during a trip.
