    Hello from South Mississippi

My name is Sailcat and I live in Picayune MS. I bought a few cheap hammocks last year and use them mainly to relax in the back yard. I have a 3 night kayak trip planned in October and I plan on hanging. Before then I need to find a good way to set up in the sand with no trees available. I'm thinking some sort of PVC setup.

Welcome to MS hammock hanging. We have a MS group hang coming up in November (https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...rest-NOV-13-14) Come on up for a great time with a bunch of cool folks and get to see and try out a wide variety of hammocks, both purchased and DIYed.

Now, as far as using a hammock with a pvc stand setup on a sandbar...honestly, just find 2 suitable trees further up the bank. The weight, cumbersome nature and instability in sand of any free-standing system all point to trees.

Hope you can make it up to the hang.

Sailcat, I am designing and building a setup for hammock camping on the sandbars right now. Will be pack-able in my kayak. Going to field test it this weekend on Black Creek. Will let you know.
