Anyone have rusting issues on their Tube connectors?
I left my tubes outside during the So.Cal rain storms a couple months ago and there is rust on the inside of the L tubes. Is this an issue?

I had some after leaving them out for a bit after a storm. Haven't figured out what I want to do about it. I think I might clean them out and spray the inside with something. Let me know if you come up with something.

I was thinking of letting them soak in Vinegar for a while and then using a bristle brush to get most of it off.

My fittings were delivered today and now I need to go buy some top rail.

I don't believe I saw anywhere in the thread where someone has used vinyl coated top rail. Is there a specific reason why it should be avoided or just a preference/cost?

Thanks! I was wondering if that was the case.

I just wanted to make sure since I noticed people had been looking into painting (requiring more prep work and time than I desire) or even powder coating (I think that idea got dropped after the price estimate). $30 extra for one stand seems fair to those alternatives if there are no gotchas with the vinyl.

I've read through 20pages, gonna pull the trigger here, but why the 'L brackets' instead of one of these:

Also, hanging off the eye-bolt makes me nervous, does anyone just slide a continuous loop around the top rain, over, under and grab that?

    Thanks

The angle is wrong on those fittings. Look for the low angle corner fittings. They have about a 30 degree angle on them and that works. It's a little steep, but works unless you are going to have kids playing around on it. It makes it a little side-tippy. They also have an extra "leg", but it doesn't really get in the way. Two of them is cheaper than four "L" brackets.

Don't hang off the eye-bolt. It will bend and eventually break. Figure a way to loop around the top rail.

I actually checked and the difference in cost is only $6 per 10.5' rail or $24 for my stand (6' 6" legs and 14' top rail from 4 10.5' pieces, maximum piece length 42"), however, galvanized rails were in stock while vinyl were special order, two weeks for delivery.

Edit: Also, there are no ratings on the vinyl so I have no idea how well it holds up.
