    Hot water bottle question...........

Ok, I really like the hot water bottle idea, and am planning on trying it out this weekend. My question is, using a standard neglene bottle, how safe is it to drink the water in the AM? Does the boiling water leach toxins into the water?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Depends who you ask. The short answer is, yes. The question is: how risky is it?
    Should be some interesting posts.

I would not worry about it. You can't even imagine all of the plastic products you have been eating/drinking/coming into contact with covering a span of your life time that contain BPA. Read about it here http://www.nalgene-outdoor.com/technical/bpaInfo.html and make up your own mind.

One more reason to switch to a metal water container. Be that Stainless steel, aluminum, Titanium, etc.

    Cheers

That depends on when you bought the Nalgene. The new ones don't have any BPA in them. If you've got an old one, you've probably used it enough that it's not leeching much anymore.

The problem with BPA was that it could cause ovarian cancer, IIRC. I wouldn't worry about it too much if you don't have ovaries.

High quality metal bottles, like Sigg, are lined with an epoxy.

Unfortunately, you can't trust much that comes from the marketing of products as it relates to safety. Even Sigg has been reluctant to be upfront and honest re: their bottle linings. Recently, they have finally acknowledged that many of their linings contained BPA. If your Sigg bottle has a copper-colored thread at the mouth lip, it does contain BPA.
Although I stay current with what I ingest on many different levels, IMO to live in fear is a much quicker and more miserable death than outside pollutants.
