Your thoughts on the Tree-O Hammock Frame on Kickstarter.com?

Any reason to NOT go for this product on Kickstarter.com if I'm planning to head out with up to two other people?

    Thanks.

After watching the video, it looks to me like their hammock's are uncomfortably short and attached at the longest points on the "sling". It appears a more or less standard 11' hammock won't fit, much less 3 of them... the apparent selling point of this product.

    .........but I've been wrong before!

Looks like a cool concept if it would work with three 11 footers.

IF you want one for yourself then maybe a good idea. For an investment? I don't know. I wouldn't want one.

Very ENO - in that they ignore the mantra, "hang only as far you care to fall." I also don't see how you're supposed to find a standard tarp that would fit over three hammocks. I don't think they've got a real solution for that.

Honestly, $80 sounds a bit steep for three straps sewn onto a climbing ring... come to think of it, I have all the stuff just sitting around to make one of these of my own!! All my hammocks are about the same length, so I only need to sew two loops for each hammock. Even If I bought all the materials new, I could do it for less than $80.

What would the weight rating be on those? Being stretched straight across, I think it would have to be huge!

Having been in contact with the guy making them, they sound VERY versatile and can handle longer hammocks. Depending on how far apart the trees are, you use different combinations of the frame and tree straps. (There are more than three straps that come with the set up.) I'm supporting the project, but I was curious if there are valid reasons to be leery of this concept.

    Thanks for the response.

Apparently, a regular rectangular tarp can be set up over a T-frame of paracord set above the hammock frame. There are some tarp designs as part of the patent, but that hasn't been released as of yet.
