Snakes in hammocks?

Thanks for all the Halloween suggestions guys and gals. Now all I have to do is find a couple of raccoons, snakes, and spiders to put around the hammock with the skeleton inside for next week. I think I'll call it -----A Bad Hanging!

Once I used a fog of bug spray under the tarp to create a time-out for skeeters, so I could get inside. It worked well!

...wonder if anyone has made a no-seeum skirt and doors for their tarp?

BTW, if you want to keep snakes away, use Snake-Away, which is naphthalene (moth balls).

Seriously, i might buy that for my next trip.
Down there i dreamed (truly dreamt while sleeping) of a stamper ,
the thing they used to attract worms in the book Dune .

Think of it as a battery powered thing that stamps,
to copy human walking.

This idea is probably my ticket to fame and fortune

And moth balls are about 25% the cost of the Snake Away ... and it works! You want it granulated ... put the balls in a cloth sack and take a hammer to them! Of course your campsite now smells like your grannie's clothes closet!

I get asked about snakes getting in my hammock a lot from people who don't camp. I've never seen one try, raccoons on the other hand are scary little creatures. Feeling you up from below with those little paws. /shudders at the thought

I recently saw a news item on TV about an elderly woman being attacked, at her home, by a gang of marauding racoons. No, really, I'm serious. Any one else see that? They tore her up pretty bad.

alright, if that ever happened to me, that would diffinitly scare the daylights out of me
but I'm still laughing....

about snakes... I camp where there's lots of them, the only thing I've ever worried about is having one take up residence on the ground under me as I sleep. Never had it actually happen but I've "heard" of other's finding a snake under them (on the ground) when they got up. I shine my flashlight on the ground before I put my feet out.

For the first time that I have ever noticed, something brushed up under my hammock at Neo's TN get together last weekend. I didn't look, or even respond, don't have a clue what it was.

I've also had bats fly under my hammock, but they rarely make contact, with their advanced radar sensors.

A bat once got caught in my wife's hair! (It's real thick hair.) We were walking down the driveway in the dark, and I noticed something moving on the back of her neck... shook it out and found a little bat!
