Hello Everyone,
My user name is BackpackerPA. As kind of an ice breaker, I'll see if anyone can figure out what the "PA" stands for. I have been hiking, backpacking and winter camping/mountaineering for over 30 years. I just recently I have started to wade into the hammock camping scene and so far I am quite impressed. Last year I received a Hennessy hammock that I used a few times. I liked the fact that camp site selection was much easier. I have been able to set up in places that I could never even consider before. Like the side of a mountain in the Catskills where I was awarded with a magnificent sunrise. Comfort though was not a good as expected. I have significant spine issues and have had surgery on my neck three times. I am definitely a side sleeper. I recently acquired a Warbonnett Ridgerunner hoping a flat-lay bridge hammock might be better. Have not had a chance to use it set but just out of the box, I have very high hopes. Thank you Brandon. Some questions I have for forum members are 1) any suggestions on setting the hammock up and 2) any suggestions on what kind of sleeping pad to use. I currently have a Exped Synmat 9 LW as well as an older Thermarest Scout self inflating mat. In a couple of months I will be doing a 130+ mile hike in just under 5 days as a fund raiser. I plan on using my RR but there are also a number of shelters that I could also stay in so having a pad instead of an underquilt would give that option. Look forward to hearing any feedback and participating in the forum in general. I have heard a lot of good things about the group.
