    Regret: Slept in a tent

I was convinced to sleep in a tent for a night while car/truck camping with some family. There were 5 of us in one big canvas tent, we all had 6"+ thick queen sized air mattresses and were on almost perfectly level ground and i had a nice memory foam pillow. It was as near a bed at home as it is feasible to assemble while camping. But, I couldn't believe how much I tossed and turned, and how sore I was when I woke up. I haven't been hanging long, but I'm now fully convinced of the superiority of hammocks. I had my hammock and tarp in my pack and thought longingly of it every time I was awakened by loud snores or to relieve a stiff limb.

If I were a bachelor I would hang full time.

My wife and I went backpacking last weekend and stayed in a tent. She was against hammocks because she thought that I just didn't want to spend time with her. After taking forever to find a half way suitable place to pitch a tent and waking up sore i think that I convinced her that we need hammocks

Sleep on a flat surface? NEVER! Not even at home!
    I'd rather be hanging.

We hit the ground earlier this summer to see if we could pull off a minimalist set up with Tarps for shelter. That one night was enough to convince the Husband who likes hanging, that he loves hanging and that it is worth the investment and touch of extra weight.

Pyrrha1, I have the exact problem with my wife, I'm trying to get her into camping, but as soon as I mention getting her a hammock she thinks that its because I don't want to spend time with her. Hopefully it will only take one night on the ground to get her to see the light!

    Zulumaster,
Just make sure that she sleeps on a thin foam pad, not one of those cushy air pads
