    Double Layer using HyperD

I am considering making a double-layer hammock using the HyperD fabric found at RipstopByTheRoll.com. Does anyone have experience making a hammock (single or double layered) using this fabric?

Mainly, I am curious to know...
    Does the HyperD fabric stretch?
Will a single layer hammock of this material hold a 200+ pound person?
Will a double later hammock of this material hold a 200+ pound person?
Would it be more advisable to make the outer layer of 1.9 oz ripstop and then the inner layer from the HyperD?

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks.

are you referring to the HyperD in 1.0 or 1.6 weight? 1.6 will hold I believe 280 in single layer. The material is billed as being super low stretch. There is a vendor on this site making hammocks from it already.

I was referring to the HyperD 1.0 weight. Who is the vendor making hammock using HyperD? Just curious.

Dream Hammocks is using HyperD 1.6 to make hammocks. There might be another also

Also Dutch just released his Hexon1.0 which he notes is good in single layer up to 250lbs. The Hexon is very similar to HyperD from my understanding. I haven't tried HyperD myself but have a couple Hexon hammocks

I made the following out of:
    4 x 1.0 oz HyperD - Deep Purple - Uncalendered
    4 x 1.0 oz HyperD - Crimson - Uncalendered

It easily holds me at 230 lbs. I have had my 50 lbs daughter in it with me for a total of 280 lbs. I think that the single layer was rated at 200 lbs, so I don't think you will have any issues.
I love the softer feel of the material and I don't think that it has much stretch. Of course I made the double layer so that we could insert a pad, which may affect how that feels.

I made a single layer hyperD 1.6 that is now my go to hammock. I weigh 220-230lbs (depends on how active I've been ahem). It stretches a bit, but for me it stretches just the right amount. It's super comfy, and has a good hand. It is a little slippery, and has a slightly plasticky/silky feel. When my back is sweaty I don't find it comfortable right on my skin, because actually sticks a bit. Fortunately I rarely get in it without a shirt.

I'd personally be afraid to use a single layer of the 1.0 for me. Part of it is the weight rating, but I'd also be afraid that the 1.0 would stretch too much. If I wanted a double layer for using a pad (something I never intend to do again!) I'd definitely use the 1.0.

I do have a double layer of the the 1.0 with a 1.6 inside. I built it because we started taking the kiddo and the dog backpacking this summer. It comfortably held both my wife and I, our five year old and the dog. We didn't sleep this way, but we lounged and hung out before going to our separate hammocks. The dog shared my hammock.

225 and have 5 nights in my 1.0. It is weird for me, I feel like it is stretching way more than it is. I think it is psychological since I know I am over the recommended weight. It does stretch and a good bit more than my argon 1.6 but not a ton. I do not worry about the strength at all. I agree with the excellent fabric description above.

I have made several hammocks in HyperD 1.6 I love this fabric . (194lbs).
I have also made 1 single layer hammock in HyperD 1.0. The jury is still out that one. So far I haven’t been able to sleep a full night in it without waking up with cramps or other leg issues. I am not sure why, fabric stretch or the shape. Something I have to investigate when I get the time. A DL hammock in HyperD 1.0 is on my to do list.
1.9 has a very different feel it’s not nearly as silky as HyperD.
