I used to have that thermometer but it died and sucked down the batteries. I wish that I had one similar or take a second chance on another.

    This second pictures is awesome.

I #failed I did not make it out in October and November is looking to be pretty busy as well. Working weekends on a second job sure does cut down on camping opportunities.

I have been following this thread although I haven't posted. I've been on two backpacking trips in September (Yellowstone and the Sawtooth Mountains Idaho) and two outings in October (car camping and a backpacking trip). I haven't taken many pictures of my set up. Here is a picture of my last trip to Emerald lake in the Jarbidge Wilderness in late October.

I will have a couple nights out over Thanksgiving when I'm visiting my family. I'll try to remember to take some pictures.

I'm going to shoot for two nights a month. December and January are the hardest months to get motivated for me. We'll see how it goes.

Did a November home hang to test my insulation out. Been dealing with CBS and I wanted to find solution before the Ohio November Hang. My OQ and UQ are good to 20°F but my butt would get cold at 50! Temps here dropped to 33°F last night and my butt stayed nice an toasty! Solution for me was a suggestion by Diz to use a small Reflectix pad under my tush. Comfy all night. No pics for this test hang, but I'll get pics up after the November hang.

I did a November hang this past weekend at the Gooch Gap shelter on the AT in Georgia. My daughter bailed at the last second so I was solo testing out some new equipment. It was a cold night so I wasn't expecting too many people. Boy was I wrong. We had a 25 person strong crowd many meeting for the first time. We also had 4 SOBO hikers who were finishing up their last night on the trail. It was quite a party in the woods.

I brought my new JRB Nest under quilt for my Hennessey. It got down to 29 degrees and I was feeling no cold. I threw my "woobie" poncho liner over the bug net of the hammock which kept the wind out but still allowed my sleeping area to breathe. This combined with my Hammock Gear Burrow quilt and I have my new winter set up.

My son and his scout troop had an over nighter. It was in a horse field near our house so I brought my newly modified hammock stand (more details to come in a separate thread). The temps got into the low 20s. I had my AHE flamethrower UQ and my new HG incubator UQ. Top quilt was my 15 degree sleeping bag. I was toasty except my heels. Need to get a small pad. There was no threat of rain so I didn't even setup the tarp

Also of note is my cpap machine in my peak shelf (it can be seen in the photo). To warm up my sleeping bag I used a nalgene bottle filled with hot water. It started warm for hours.

Last weekend at Lake Wales Ridge State Forest. This was a one tree hang due to the lack of available hang spots.

And hung in the yard last night, testing my newest DIY hammock.

    Rerun:

I see that you live in Georgia. I go camping pretty much every weekend that I can. Last summer, I went 16 consecutive weeks in the N. Georgia mountains.

I have some incredible camping spots that I found but selfishly won't post on HF.

I will tell you that some of the shelters can be great places to meet new people when out alone on the trail.

If you ever need some camping ideas, send me a PM and I can shoot you over a few locations.
