    Hammock setup

Hi, I'm about to buy my hammock and I just wanted to ask before I do, if anyone has any recommendations or things to say about my setup before I spend all that money.
    My setup would be-
Roaming gnome hammock, 1.6 oz rip stop, 11 foot, and 62in.
    Hammock gear burrow 20
    War bonnet edge tarp
For bottom insulation i would use a reflectix pad until I can afford a UQ.

If there's anything wrong with this, please let me know.

Nothing wrong per se but if it were me I would lose the reflectix and get a cheapo CCF pad from Wally World. You're apt to get condensation using the reflectix.

Do you have a sleeping bag? If yes I would go for a under quilt first and use the sleeping bag as my top quilt. Others might differ though.

I agree. Open out your sleeping bag and use it as a quilt. Buy a UQ. The biggest problem in a hammock is Cold Butt Syndrome, so get it sorted.

+1 on this! A good underquilt can make a big difference. I have been using an old 40 degree sleeping bag as my topquilt. I have a zero degree and a -40 degree bag that I plan on using as topquilts for now.

I did just pick up one of the Costco down throw's to give a try, it is a pound lighter than my 40 degree bag. I don't know if it will go down to 40 though but with my 20 degree underquilt I might be good. We will see.

You'll get the same amount of condensation with a foam pad because it's non-breathable just like the Reflectix. But the foam pad will probably be warmer than the Reflectix because it's probably thicker.

the best investment i have ever made in my hammocking experience is an under quilt and its worth every cent, and theres a reason for the price,, a lot goes into making a under quilt, i have tried just about everything to avoid the costs, reflective s, pads, modified sleeping bags, blankets, but in the end nothing comes close, the times i spent trying to work out alternative options cost me many a restless night, i use a sleeping bag as a top quilt and it works great never saw the reason for a top quilt but spend the money on a well made under quilt even if you start out with a used one
