The best way to keep bugs out of your shoes is to leave them at home and hike barefoot. sry couldent resist.
Bu seriously, I just leave my shoes on a ground cloth under the hammock and shake them out in the a.m.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.
Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
I hang my boots off my tarp ridgeline, and hang my bag on a tree.
I keep my shoes on my ground cloth or in the shelf on my warbonnet. At times there have been Daddy long legs all over the place but I let them do what they want. They are killing the rest of the bugs. Insects in the pack are no big deal really. Just explode the pack in the driveway when you get home. Let it all sit outside for a while before you bring it inside.
Pack and shoes hang from hammock ridgeline when I'm in areas I don't know (or it's raining). It wasn't bugs that caused that change but a red squirrel, who took my Bahco folding saw from the pack and tried to take it up a tree. Luckily, I caught him before he escaped. Who know what a red squirrel armed with a folding saw could do?

I don't try.
I just turn my shoes upside down and beat them together/on the ground before I put them on.
Besides, if you tickle spiders under the chin they won't bite.
Only thing I ever have in my shoes are slugs. I just stack up a few rocks and put my shoes on those; the slugs don't seem to like the roughness of the rocks. If slugs might be an issue, I hang my pack from my hammock suspension. Usually only have slug issues when it has rained recently.
i dont hang outdoors much in the summer because i dont sleep well in or enjoy the oudoors as much when it's blazing hot.
seems like creepy crawlies arent as much of an issue in a hammock, be because i'm in the air. I also use picidin on my body and sometimes use a bug net. i always check and shake my my shoes and clothes whether i hang them or not
