But, surprisingly, it works pretty good considering the weight and bulk after compression. And I have recently discovered that when I tie the tarp to the treesw, the entire thing seem to work better when it comes to augmenting by putting clothing ( down vests work great) between the undercover and pad. Since I don't have the fly attached to the spectra, I am free to adjusr the undercover more tightly if the weight of the added clothin pulls the undercover away from the open cell hennessy pad. This new trick is working very well.

Not for me, no suitable trees at my house, nor at any relatives nearby. Believe it or not, I went to a local park and there were no suitable spots except for one portion, and that area had guys working cutting down trees . I’ll have to find a good place to practice.

Sounds like a hammock stand is in your future.

You mean the same kind of stand you see for typical ‘back yard’ or deck hammocks? Do you just use that same type of stand to use a Jungle Hammock? I suppose it would be better than not practicing at all, but I’m sure it would fall short in terms of getting me field ready.

What would you do, just buy a back yard hammock on a stand and then toss the hammock aside?

    Homemade Stand

    Risk's Homemade Hammock Stand
Here's one you can make yourself for cheap and easy, though it'll cost you more than $25 these day. Here's some pics of one I made with a few mods.

I have been sliding my 0 degree bag over my hammock and I still get cold spots from where the air comes in the top gaps. Would a quilt system or a peapod be a better choice?

Would you use a peapod, or a quilt system. Whats the best temp/weight ratio.
