    Height of straps questions?

Newbie....I am assuming when hanging on slope that you want to keep your attachments on same plane? I have 11 foot hammock about how high up the tree should I attach straps, let's say on trees 15' apart? If you have trees at 13' does that then change the height of straps?
I am going to put eye bolts under my deck on the post there is slope of about 2ft for 15ft, so I would like to do it once and not have to change them, is part of reason I am asking

    Thanks

Awesome. Not necessary, but sure is helpful! I even paid the $1.99 for the app

    p.s. I like a 15' spacing. 13 never seems right for me.

Here's what I do. I guesstimate how far apart the trees are. If about 15', I set my straps at about 6'. Then, I set my suspemsion to the right angle and get in it to "settle" it. I use a SRL, so no matter how I set the suspension, my sag stays the same. Then, I assess if it's too high or too low off the ground and adjust my tree straps' hieght accordingly. The tree straps are the last thing I adjust and revolve around everything else.

A little fiddling and fidgetting is part of the fun. I'm getting better at judging my tree strap height from the beggining and make up for slight variations with the suspension. Unless your trees lean or have a taper, you shouldn't need to adjust the suspension to get the right angle when you move the straps.

I would just tie it on the posts and try it first to find the right spot....that calculator is a little off for me.

    Re: Same Plane

If you find yourself migrating to one end of your hammock at night you might also want to run one end higher than the other. ;-)
    YMMV

So to answer his 2nd Hidden question... the farther apart the trees the higher the straps go? I was guessing just the opposite for some reason. Or am I missing something?

Yes, the farther apart the trees, the highe the straps.

If you have a 30* angle, just imagine the suspension continues on up past the tree in a straight line. The farther you imagine it going, the higher up it goes.

Cool - Thanks - That 30º angle continue on, really explains this!
