Smile new T.Q. made by firesong

had been saving my pennies for a good top quilt ,researched so much I was getting dizzy and finally settled on a cottage vender here in Canada http://www.littleshopofhammocks.com/ ( firesong on the forum )I only called him 2 days ago asking questions and pulled the trigger , james said he would get at it when he could ,( this is not his full time job ) and would send me pics of the build/progress . i was not expecting pics for at least a week or 10 days and low and behold I got pics today with a possible shipping date of tomorrow, its a ClimaShield 6-0
and looks great , foliage green / Flecktarn Camo as an outer, should get me down around -7 or there abouts ( probably a bit lower ) in combination with my A.H.E. 4seaon long U.Q.,i will try and add the pics he sent me ,it was a pleasure talking with james and doing business with him. looking forward to giving it try out ,the weather here in Alberta has already dropped to 0 at nights in the mountains .image3.JPGimage4.JPGimage2.JPGimage1.JPG

There are so many jaw dropping statements in this thread. a custom quilt, in 4 days, that will get you to -7? With lictures of the build...
    ... ALREADY 0 at night?

    Awesome

I have to add, that Paul is talking Celcius not Fahrenheit
So zero is 0degrees Celcius - Freezing or 32 Fahrenheit

Looks like you'll be a very happy new quilt owner soon. Congrats!
I've always admired James' work, especially since I'm a camo junkie and he's shown some great pieces. That flecktarn not only looks amazing, but I bet that will keep you toasty warm.

Its in the 60s here at night, finally!

Every time I see one of James' creations I get a bit jealous. I love that flecktarn pattern. I would love to see the seriously old school east german flecktarn as well.

got out to try out my new quilt, temps ranged from minus 3 Celsius night time to + 18 day time temps , the first night I under dressed minus 3 cel ( on purpose ) with just a tee shirt ,regular socks and woke up a few times during the night ,not really cold ,but just border line uncomfortable ,2nd night temp got down to around 0 celus I dressed with my fleece sweat pants and fleece top and heaver socks , ( my usual late fall gear ) and not a problem ,I was very comfortable , loved the top quilt ,just a matter of getting to know its limits ,the workman ship is definitely first class , not sure of the weight ,but it definitely can pack down fairly small ,I car camp and boat camp so weight etc etc does not concern me,i just wanted to get some thing that was easy to get into and out of, compared to a sleeping bag, it takes a little bit of getting used to compared to an old style sleeping bag ,as in there is not the same weight pressing on your body ( does that make sense ? ) I did not take any pics because my camera batteries died ,but a word of advice if you get the flecktarn cameo and you are camping in the fall with all the leaves turning color be very careful where you set your quilt it blends in that well. thanks james really nice quilt
