Sounds like you're having a ball Keep it up!

BTW keep in mind that UV damage is not always linear - (10X the UV may do more (or less!) than 10X the damage) depending on the ability of the material to dissipate the energy absorbed, re-radiate the absorbed photon at another frequency (fluorescence) and/or self repair (which is mostly just a DNA thing but some other materials can do this as well).

There is a list of materiel here that exhibit a non-linear beta as well as some other info.

Thanks for the info and concern - we're mainly trying to establish an overall trend and relationship to UV exposure and tensile/impact strength and pressure head up to 2000mm. Hopefully, we'll be able to compare the different fabrics and the lab analog to some of the 'real-world' exposed specimen's I've gotten from a few HF users, both under the tensile tester as well as in the electron microscope to look at fiber integrity. That's the plan for this semester, and if we don't get it done for this class I'll definitely be spending some of my own time and money getting into the SEM to take a look.

We're concerned/excited about some of the possible crosslinking activity under the UV tester, although there seems to be some literature out there proving that we're not completely biasing the test with high exposure for accelerating our aging process. There are also a few artificial weathering machines that focus on high intensity UVB radiation for the UV component - we're simply imitating that portion of the process and ignoring the physical wear and tear.

And for the record, I get 6.72-7.03 hours of sleep per 86.4 kilosecond period. The sad part is that I didn't have to do that last math out...I knew that already

There are a great many things wrong with you my friend.
But, you make a darn fine tarp...all is forgiven.

And here I was, thinking marriage to an English major was tough.

Good luck on the grad school applications. Even after I got laid off, I really didn't want to go back to school (although, the working engineering world has its issues too).
Nice seeing you integrate your hobbies/interests into your studies. Materials was one of my favorite classes in undergrad.

Will grab a tarp from you eventually though, so glad to know you'll still be producing them.
