    Are you happy?

I was just thinking about my own hammock system... and then I started thinking about what else I wanted: blackbirds, jacks underquilts, oes tarps etc... etc..

I then started to think.. I am happy with what I have. Yes it may not be much, but why hurt myself thinking about what I could have.. and be happy with what I do have! I know sometimes when I get on here and see the next cool thing, or awesome piece of gear and I want it.. but I guess I am learning to be happy with my system as is

BOTTOM LINE: I LOVE CAMPING IN MY HAMMOCK, and nothing can change that

Nope ... not happy with my gear at all! Why you might ask ... well I'll tell you.

It's down stairs ready to pack for the Pre-Halloween Hang in Linville Gorge! Now come Tuesday night when I'm all tucked in my hammock listening to the sounds of the Gorge and Linville River ... I'll truly love it!

    Extremely so.

Old phrase- happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.
I'm happy playing with my current gear. Also happy to consider improvements in the future. happy to think there is always something new to tweak, test or try. happy whan something works for me, aand happy when I learn what does not work; so I can avoid it next time. it is all in the mindset!

Too be honest about it, the closest I've come, so far, to finding a piece of gear I am happy with is a Warbonnet Blackbird, and there are a few things that could use a little improvement on it.

I'm just frustrated because I can't find anything that will keep me warm, is simple to set up, and not weigh a ton.

I have been to -7º in an SPE with two pads ..... pretty simple. Coulda been lighter (BA insulated pad ... 1 lb and ccf pad 9oz) but it was -7º!
    Yeti is light and warm.
My DIY UQ is 15ozs .... good to 30º. Easy, light and warm.
    You will find your system........

Not too worried about bottom insulation... If a Nunatak topquilt doesn't do the job, I'm giving it up. I can find another hobby. I'm not talking about subfreezing temps here, I'm talking about 50F!

At 50 degrees and down into the mid-30's, I'm happy with a 3 season Yeti (12.5 oz) and the same SitLite pad that is already in the back of my GG Gorilla pack. Inside I use a WM Caribou since I don't own any quilts yet and occasionally go to ground when tripping with my wife (she enjoys the companionship of a tent!).
