Coming soon - Trekking pole to hammock stand conversion kit

Announcing my new NoGround (patent pending) trekking pole to hammock stand conversion kit.

I have decided to offer my first 10 buyers AND anyone who has already bought parts, the full conversion for $30/pole plus actual shipping.

    Each conversion will contain:
    1. Bottom extension pole (9") with proprietary socket, lower truss line connection, and removable ground spike (1). The extra length allows proper 30 degree hang angles for 11' hammocks.
    2. Truss hub, with sizing inserts (1)
    3. Truss supports, with truss line guides (3)
    4. Upper truss line connections that clamps to the trekking pole below the handle (1), this will come with sizing inserts or in multiple sizes
    5. Truss line (1.75 mm Lash-it)

All will come partially pre-assembled. The upper connection and the truss hub can be left on the pole while using it as a trekking pole.

    Add ons:
Amsteel guyline (pole to ground anchor) 2 - 11 foot lines with Brummel loop in one end and finished on the other. These can easily convert to a UCR. $10/pr
Amsteel stake equalizing lines (2), long enough to equalize 4 stakes each. $7/pr.
    Aluminum Y-stakes 9" (6). $15/6 stakes

These are pretty much rock bottom prices, as they don't cover much more than my current cost of new materials. After the first 10 are claimed (and the Beta testers) the price will have to go up to something that is worthwhile for me to produce. Figure between $40-50 per pole plus any add ons selected.

Each kit will come with instructions and anchoring suggestions.

I expect Beta testers can have their sets shipped by Mon Oct 21st. Possibly a week earlier if I can manage it. Other orders will have to ship after that. Because I only want completely satisfied customers, each conversion will have a 30-day money back guarantee (buyer pays return shipping).

OK, the fine print: Because of variations in your trekking pole(s) and the quality of the ground you are anchoring in, there is NO guarantee that the conversion is suitable for any weight or conditions. Remember, test first, hang safe, and enjoy your new freedom.

Quick question: are there limits on what poles will and will not work? Such as: does this work with twist lock and friction lock poles? Is it safe to use with carbon fiber poles? Are non-locking fixed length poles prefered?

    Thanks.

I am currently using this without issues on camlock carbon fiber poles. My poles with twist locks aren't very good, but a good twist lock should work just as well. Non-adjusting poles may be a little harder to install the truss hub on, but should be doable. I'm not focusing on non-adjusting poles right now.

The only poles I wouldn't use right now are antishock poles without a way of disabling the antishock feature. I am working on a solution, just haven't gotten to that yet.

For anyone wanting to put in a pre-order and secure their place in line:

Please make all orders through my FB page at the bottom of my posts. Per HF rules, vendors (which I now am) aren't allowed to do business via PM.

Questions, comments, or feature requests are welcome on this thread.

This sounds different than the ones you were selling before. So...

Do you have a pic of the current parts being sold?

Do you have a pic of the current parts assembled on a pole?

Do you have any idea of the shipping cost?

How does one order if they don't have FB?

    Thanks.

Mostly more parts, but some have been improved

Do you have a pic of the current parts being sold?
Not at this time, but I will post soon

Do you have a pic of the current parts assembled on a pole?
Not at this time, I will post the system in use in a few days.

    Guessing $3-5 in the USA.

How does one order if they don't have FB?
[email protected] Put "NoGround" in the subject matter.

I'm taking pre-orders at this time, but not asking for money until I can actually start making them in about 2 weeks.

The big difference from the previous items is the extension to make the pole long enough to hang an 11' hammock goes on the bottom, so the old pole tip connector has been replaced with the pole extension and integral truss lines. The trekking pole handle no longer needs to come off for an extension, so I have created a hub for the upper lines that attach below the handle. There are a couple of other changes that make the set-up easier, and I'm including the Lash-it truss lines.

I'm off for some remote Beta-testing, so if I don't respond right away it is because I don't have internet access.

Lastly, Since each kit is hand-made I will only accept the number of orders I'm willing to make. For October that is probably the 10 at my introductory price plus the upgrades to my original buyers.

Finally found the pictures of the bottom extension. This is my prototype so color and the end cap will be different/better.

And the bottom 2/3 of a rigged pole. The truss hub in this picture is white, my latest ones are black.

    rigged lower pole.jpg

I don't have pictures of the top connection right now. I have several working methods, but haven't decided on the production one yet, and my prototypes aren't spiffed up. When I'm back from my Beta test trip (Eastern Sierras, Havasu Falls) then my real production run will start.

Remember, at this time it is only PRE-orders. I'm not taking payments until I have product in hand. The pre-orders are to guide me on my initial production. Do I make 5, 10, or more?
