    Clark Hammock Recommedations?

Thinking of getting a North American; I owned one several years ago, and I kinda miss it. Currently using a WB RR, but I had a spreader bar snap on me (REI Hiking Pole) over Labor Day weekend, and thinking of swearing off bridge hammocks. I like to travel fairly light and do not like the idea of carrying the spreader bars the RR came with as they do not have a second purpose. I am 6'2" and 205. What hammocks from Clark do most people like? I have a cuben fiber tarp that would cut the weight, and I an mot overly concerned about the weight when it come to sleep (except for those darn bars!).

I'll take that RR off you hands when you figure out what your new one will be! Good luck with the search, worse than picking out a new car I think.

I'm 6'5"., 230 lbs with broad shoulders. This spring, I decided to try a clark. I guess I liked the idea of the insulating pockets, and the shorter length would make it easier to find proper trees (currently using a WBRR--love it, but you gotta have trees a good distance apart) So, to make a long story short, I bought a NX270. I had it for a week, and spent many ;hours playing around with it, until I came to one conclusion.....................although it is a beautifully made hammock, it just doesnt work for me. At my size, I couldnt get comfortable. So, I sent it back for a refund, and have gone back to my WBRR. (all is well---the perfect hammock for me!) If you are having spreader bar problems, try the mountain smith mono pod --very strong, and makes a great spreader bar!) Anyway , thats my experiance with Clark. They make a really nice hammock, but it just didnt work for me.
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

My only experience is with the Mark 2. I like it, but it's a bit fussy. Full report here: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...=1#post1493749

I'm 6' 200 lbs and use a Clark NX250 or 5 years. I sleep better in my hammock than my bed!

Thanks for the input. I had an NX 250, and despite the added room I did not like it as much as the North American. Just shows that YMMV. I sold the NX 250, and I cannot find the NA I had. I may have sold it, but for the life of me I cannot remember.

My NA was bought nearly 10 years ago, but the new ones look the same with a smaller tarp and seem to weigh a bit less. Any other changes?

What was it about it that didn't work for you? Was it just the size of it?

I love my Clark NX-250 and I will never ever get rid of it, however it is not the most comfortable and the quality of construction is fantastic! I have spent many nights in it trying every sort of configuration good luck with finding your next hammock that will fit your needs.

I too am a big guy (bigger than you at 6"2" and 270). I have had my Clark NX200 for many years and it is great. I know it is a discontinued model, but they do pop up on the gear swap or ebay occasionally. There is nothing I don't like about it. It packs fairly small, no spreader bars, etc.

You interested in another North American. I have 2 NA's along with a TX-150 and a real early model Clark that is a very lightweight model. Been thinking about selling one of the NA's. PM if interested.
