I just did the Devils Loop (Devils Dome Loop) hike the first weekend of October, Friday to Monday - 43 miles. It was a great trip, even had a dusting of snow on Saturday morning. I will be doing more hikes this winter then in the past. Normally I post in Meetup, but I will also try to post here too. I just about always use my hammock setup and now that I have a full range of Quilts, I stay nice and toasty. Getting up, well that is a whole other issue!
I'll keep checking back on this and any other threads about winter hangs.
Quilts seem to hold there value very well, to the point I would rather just buy it retail for a few dollars more. Sometimes you will see a good deal on here but usually its a saving of less that $50. Hammock Gear quilts are a great value and everything I have seen has been top notch to date.
As for trips.. all I can say is keep an eye on the trips thread or get to know some locals on here s they kick you a msg when planning something.

I VOTE for Frog Lake, it seems, as Gary_R points out, there has been a lot of discussion in the past about where to gather and the amenities. Who knows what in the heck the weather is going to do?
You know, i'd go for Frog as well. Especially with it's proximity to Mt. Hood! Any serious downhill skiers here? If the snow's not garbage, I'll be hitting the hill at least one day, especially with a new pair of Black Diamond Quadrants!
OK... just catching up on the thread.. been a busy few months.
My vote will go to Frog lake. Without beating the horse to death... (Read Gary's reasons for Frog lake) I like the ease of access.. perfect trees, and yeah.. the Privies are a nice touch.
In the spirit of introducing "new folks" to winter hammock camping, I have not found a better location with the access of Frog Lake.
The question that came up at last years hang was the timing. When do we want to do the hang.
I am in agreement that perhaps January is a bit early for the snow.. but then we run into the other issues.
I think February is the sweet spot and March may too late for some.
The snow is the big draw as typically that means dry and cold. Wet and cold sucks for the social part of the hang.
So lets direct the thread to when we want to do the annual Yeti Hang.
We did not do a summer hang this year and gosh darn it... I miss ya'll.
So the question is.. WHEN?

Hope you don't mind some southern Oregon hangers joining in on the hang. My buddy and I would love to finally get to do a group hand with HF members.
Everyone is welcome! The more the merrier!
Stay tuned for a date and location?
Think we may want to get on this sooner than later so we can adjust calendars etc.
Here are the dates I propose: Feb. 12-14 or Feb. 26-28 2016 Location: Frog lake.
What say you?

WOO HOO Timberline has snow!!!!!!!
How is it to early? We have ALWAYS had snow on that date. Last year a week later till basically now there was nothing up there. There is nothing we can really do about the weather on the mountain. It is a flip of the coin no matter what we do.
Jan or Feb dates will work fine for me. And I will cross my fingers we have a better snow fall this year!
