That is incredible. Looks like a good hammock for beginners to start in too, inexpensive. Personally, I like my double bottom Blackbird, thought it is quite a bit heavier, to me, it's worth it. Mule

I got my 1.1 dbl blackbird down to 23 oz, you could go substantially lower with a single layer but sacrifice durability.
I migrated here from the BPL forums. I have to admit that I have been a little uncomfortable about how heavy my hammock is compared to my old set up. Seeing this thread gets me excited about an ultralight hammock setup. I am probably a little too heavy for this setup, but only trying it out will let me know.
You should check out te-wa's thread on SUL backpacking with a hammock. He's trying the nano (soon to ship) and has a base weight under 5 lbs.

The nano supports 300 lbs, which should be ample for most hangers, but it is a smaller hammock at only 108 x 48 inches.
I'm wondering what this nano is made of. A reviewer over at backpackgeartest.org says rip-stop nylon, as does the Grand Trunk site. 4' x 9' is 4 sq yds, measured at 5 oz for the hammock body only, makes for 1.25 oz/sq yd. Something close to standard 30 denier rip-stop. But does anyone trust 30 denier rip-stop to support 300 lbs???? And if it did, imagine the stretch

That's a good question. I'm testing the nano too for BGT. The material is stated as being 1.27 oz (36 g) ripstop nylon.
I've had my two sons in the hammock with me, for a total of 240 lbs, and I haven't noticed any stretching. So far, everything has held up well.
I had some 1.7 ounce per square yard Ripstop laying around and I put together a simple gathered end hammock today to check the weight.
I wanted a finished size of 4 x 9 and I hit it almost right on the button.
My finished weight, along with 2 Six foot finished whoopie slings comes in just under 8 ounces (7.9 ounces).
I'm going to head out to the old back yard and give it a try ... we'll see how the stretch is on standard ripstop .... just to compare apples to apples ....
Update .... didn't seem to be too bad, however, we're talking about a different material. Size felt ok, however. The Whoopie slings were great, as always.
Bottom line ... I like it, I'll put a Nano on my wish list.
