5.7 oz asym tarp for $59.95

I just wanted to post a quick review of the custom Simply Light Designs Asym tarp I received from Jared.

    http://www.simplylightdesigns.com/ca...products_id/81[1]

I requested the new ripstopbytheroll.com .9 oz/yd2 Membrane Silpoly (1.03 oz/yd2 finished), > 2000 mm hydrostatic head material, and Jared was happy to accommodate this request at no extra charge (note: the material was on sale at RSBTR, so YMMV in the future).

The tarp ended up at 5.7 oz! The stuff sack with the same material is .18 oz. The whole thing folded up in the stuff sack is a little bigger than a baseball. And drumroll, please...$59.95!

The coverage of the deployed tarp is way more than I anticipated. I'm hopefully heading up to Glacier National Park this weekend so I can get a good field test out of it.

If this new material performs well in rain, it provides a hell of a value proposition considering the cuben fiber tarps in the same class are only a little more than an ounce lighter.

Thanks to Jared at Simply Light Designs and Kyle at Ripstopbytheroll. These guys are killing it!

I really like the new membrane silpoly. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I picked up that tarp last fall in sil from his "gear up and get outdoors" sale section. It's super lightweight! I've had it in light downpours and stayed dry, just by keeping it pitched low and being aware of rain direction. I always take it on day hikes and use it as a sunshade when I take a hammock break. Jared does great work and is fast!
