Awesome trip! Thanks to OldBoot for her patience during my first time at the stern. After a few spins figuring things out at the dock, and one 90 degree course-correction in the middle of the lake we made it there in one piece, and in decent time!

Dueling Squirrel Cookers with Chard. My mind is spinning at all the tubular meat products that can be cooked by the campfire on one of these.

Picture perfect little trout spot. Hard to get a feel for the scale, but the rock in the middle of the falls is about 10 feet high. Lost every small spinning lure in my box on the logs in the bottom of the pool, but caught my first Speckled Trout (about 4 inches long) followed by a chub minnow that was about the same size...

Chard showing us how it's done. 1csleptonkayak's inflatable boat. Not something you often see in Algonquin. Got some strange looks from the others on the portage.

    Wow. A two-fer trip report.

It was a great hang as usual, well fed and meeting a couple new to me people. Weather was spectacular as was the company. I was quite annoyed when I was most of the way across Rock Lake when I realized my 16 oz 'flask' whiskey was still in my car but thankfully 1csleptonkayak wanted help with his 40 Creek so I got by. On the flip side it was nice surprise to come across Bubba while paddling at the bottom of Rock. Hope to see everyone out when the weather gets colder.

And the image of a kilted Chard looking like a giant hoisting a pontoon boat will stick in my head.

p.s. The past 4 days was up to the park again this weekend with 20 students. Was a tad chilly the first night but that helped make the trees look pretty darn nice by Sunday.

Funny guy! You know, once it was balanced, it was way easier than carrying my canoe. Besides nothing's worse than doing a two man carry over rough terrain when the guys are jostling out of rhythm.

As far as the two-fer goes, I felt obliged after so much of your good natured ribbing over the years to get this report out on a timely basis.

For what it's worth I was curious about the food bag lashing we used and apparently it's a variation of the traditional square lashing, although this is the first time I've seen it used for this purpose. So there you have it. When it comes to knots, there's nothing new under the sun.

Still going to use it though. It worked quite well on Entropy's Dyneema type line.

yeah, we definitely needed a toggle to pull the bag up, so using it to secure it is a great idea. I used a cove hitch to attach toggle to the line.
