Hello from Nashville

Hi All, new member Mike here from Brentwood, which is just south of Nashville. My son is a Boy Scout so we do a fair amount of backpacking and he got me back into camping after decades off. His troop mainly uses hammocks, which prompted us to look into it. He just purchased a Warbonnet Blackbird DL1.1 and Mamajamba tarp and is itching to put it to use. I would like to thank all the members of this forum for the valuable information provided. This forum and The Ultimate Hang book are great resources.

I am a stomach sleeper and still trying to figure out if I can adapt to a hammock. In theory like them better than tents for their ease of use and comfort.

I am originally from the southside of Chicago, but really enjoying the south.

I grew up in Brentwood and now live in Nolensville. I was in boyscouts in Brentwood. What troop is your son in?

Oh yeah and also originally from Chicago. Glad to be in good company.

Welcome to the site from a former Middle Tn. Scout. I have not tried using a bridge hammock, but they are better for side and stomach sleepers. I am sure someone with experience will chime in.

Troop 248. Small world, where abouts in Chicago did you live?

Troop 248, that's basically just a little ways down the road from me. I was in Troop 93 on the other side of Brentwood. Really cool to hear that most of the troop uses hammocks. Really amazing how much hammock camping has taken off in just the last 2-3 years.

As for Chicago I only lived there the first four years of my life. Grew up in Addison but have parents and family from both sides of the city.
