Tarp lines. What else is there?

I am using paracord for now, but it is heavy for backpacking.

I have heard of the Dyneema products, zing it, lash it, but they don't hold knots well.

Also heard of mason cord, but it tangles so easily.

Is there something else? I saw some line on a clark tarp that looked good, but I don't know what it was.

Zing-It is excellent for guy lines and commonly used for tarp guylines and ridgelines. What kind of knots did you want to use? I use Zing-it 1.75 mm guy lines with a larkshead knot to the tarp, and a marlin spike hitch on the stake. Zing-It works great.

Probably the most popular is the dyneema, like Zing-it, with "Dutch bling" replacing knots. The bling I speak of is weightless, titanium hardware from www.dutchwaregear.com

Zing it and lash it (same thing) hold knots very well. I have been making guylines and ridge lines with knots in the line for over 6 years specially for hammock camping.

But there are many other lines....we stock around a half dozen different cords for use as guylines.

I use Lawson reflective cord. I got tired of tripping over lines at night.

I am talking ridgeline and guylines. The knots I usually use are a quick upsidedown bowline, a marlin spike hitch, an 8 on a bight, with a truckers hitch.

Dutch bling is another thing I don't need to spend money on as long as I can tie a knot. I heard you all gasp, but I just think it is something else that is easily lost.

I think I will try the zing it. Thanks for the replies.

Zing it is nice stuff but I think it's really overkill for guy lines. I don't need guy lines with a 400lb break strength. I found this atwood micro cord: http://atwoodrope.net/collections/micro-cord

It's cheap, pretty stiff so it doesn't tangle too bad, and holds knots (especially friction knots) well. It's 100lb test and comes in about every color of the rainbow.

I'll stick with zing-it for my ridgeline because I want something really strong and pretty much zero stretch. For the guy lines (non-reflective at least), this is my new favorite.

FYI.....if you want reflective they have that too: http://atwoodrope.net/collections/reflective
