Big Agnes Sleeping bag while hammock camping

Anyone have any feedback on the use of a Big Agnes sleeping bag with an integrated sleeping pad?

I'm a side sleeper and like to toss and turn. Looking at a more rectangular bag.

I have a HH Hyperlight and looking for 3 season bag for AT Hiking.

    Thoughts/comments greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    TF

Until recently I have been using that arrangement in an ENO DN. My 20" BA air mattress doesn't cover my shoulders so I used a short piece of 24" wide CCF under my head and shoulders. Worked ok for a few years until I could afford to upgrade.

I have and still use a Big Agnes down mummy bag. I stopped using the Air Core insulated pad. True it is not wide enough so extenders are needed. But I do like the bag and UQ combo. Have not switched to a top quilt yet. Not sure if I will.

I have used a Big Agnes Lost Ranger (which is not a mummy bag) with a Big Agnes Q Core pad. I currently have a Hennessy Deluxe bottom entry and have been using this system every since I started hanging and so has my son.

I have not had any issues in terms of being cold etc. I will only say that I don't think I am experiencing the "freedom" that so many folks talk about. I just ordered a Hammock Gear 20 degree top quilt and underquilt and a Dream Hammock Thunderbird so I am going to finally be able to compare the two and see what if any thing I have been missing.

I have a cross mountain 45, though 45 degrees may be pushing it. On the ground I like the bigger foot box and enjoy having the pad sleeve. In a hammock without an UQ you are going to have some cold shoulders, but maybe not if you side sleep.

If you already have the BA sleeping bag then use it until you can upgrade. However, I would not recommend purchasing a new one to use in a hammock unless you also intend to use it to go to ground. The UQ/TQ is much more comfortable and offers more "freedom" relative to wrestling with a sleeping bag, zippers, and inflatable pad. I own both and wouldn't ever consider using the BA bag in the hammock if I can use the quilts. HYOH.

I've got a BA and use the tall (long) pad in mine.
I too have a Thunderbird and have been okay into the low 40s with only a wool blanket to lay on.
With the Thunderbird, you could easily use 2 pads to increase your bottom insulation until you get
    an under quilt.

I am a side sleeper through and through and I swear by my Montbell spiral-stretch down bag. I was worried that I'd need a rectangular bag as well and did not want the weight. After much research I discovered Montbell's spiral stretch design and it works perfectly in a side sleeping orientation. No need to turn your body within the bag, just allow the bag to turn with you.

I use my Big Agnus 15 degree bag and a ThermaRest TrailLite pad. I like the integrated pad and the way it flattens my hammock out when sleeping. I have used it while backpacking and have had no complaints down to 38 Degrees so far.
