So question - is the bug net mosquito proof or can they bite you through the net and it just keeps them off you? So ideally then treating the net keeps them out and off whereas untreated they are out but can land and munch on your arm over your head leaning against the net?
Yep, they can get you through the net. I recommend treating the bug net.

I'll throw in a little of my knowledge, one east way to prevent chiggers is to drink a couple teaspoons of vinegar the night before you go to the woods. I personally can't stomach vinegar so I drink pickle juice instead and it works 100% for me!
I have been to some chigger infested swamps and came out with no bites!
