    Inadvertent backyard gardening

I just nearly did a full face-plant rigging the tarp over my AMOK.
Not watching what I'm doing, moving a little too fast, not picking my feet up high enough... Ol' Guy Line's gonna gittya.
I will turn 66 a month from tomorrow. I live alone... out in the country. As I tumbled out and down through that endless distance to the ground in full Wiley Coyote freefall the thought was screaming through my mind, "Awwwwcrap! Now I've finally gone and done IT!... and the phone is in the house!".
Then I actually surprised myself by landing in a full push-up... and it doesn't feel like I tore a rotator cuff.
Best of all, I didn't drive a hand through my tarp.

However, man, oh, man, am I going to be more careful from now on! I really don't want to be lying out on the forest floor someplace blinking SOS signals at jetliners on their way to Europe.

Flash, I'm glad you bounced and did not break. Now you can survey the scene in your AMOK.

    Glad you're okay!

I'm always amazed at how fast I move, when falling!
The rest of the time I'm much closer to turtle speed.

I did something similar a couple of days ago. It's amazing how much stuff goes through your mind while you're falling.

    Glad you're OK.

I find the older I get the longer the falls are. Glad you didn't do any damage, to yourself or your gear.

glad your OK. it can be scary. last year I went on a hike alone and was planning on trying trail runners for the first time but at the last minute I changed my mind and wore my old trusty boots. good thing I did, I slid twice tweaking my ankle both times and I am convinced that with my weak ankles had I worn the trail runners I would have been in a little trouble.

    be careful out there.

This is the one thing that frightens me while biking or hiking alone in the woods. There's time when I don't see another person the entire time I'm out there and don't have any bars on my phone.
