    My first hammock

    Hi All
I have just finished making my first hammock, I am very happy with how it turned out, but I cannot find any of the descending rings here in Perth.
I will have to keep looking for them but in the mean time I have used a couple of shackles I had so as I could test it out.
Thanks to Just Jeff for his directions although I used a folding method for the ends rather than bunching.
Any way here are a few pics of it.
    Thank

Congratulations for your first hammock! Nice pics too! I guess your second project would be a bugnet bivy to go with your hammock. Hmmm, maybe you should follow it up with a tarp/rainfly....a snakeskin...a stuffsack.......

Why didn't someone tell me sooner? I don't HAVE to sleep on the ground!

Hammocking is like a disease which has no cure!
If you must choose between two evils, opt for the one you've never tried before

I bought all the fabric for mine in the Wal-Mart dollar bin, I used 3 yards for my first, but now I use 3.5 yards. So with the fabric, thread, and webbing I have around $10, depending how much webbing I buy. I buy it in a local climbing store for $.30/ft. and I use around 12ft per side.
