Off Road, I wish I could hang on an oak flat. Where I hunt I have to spot and stalk. I'm trying to get better at calling bucks and elk to me, but I'm new to hunting and haven't mastered calling yet.

You guys are all nuts.
The greatest N. Amer. poet ever, R. Service, wrote, "There's a race of men that don't fit in...And they don't know how to rest..."
So get real folks, youse them. You think sleeping comfortably is nice and good, and that other's don't get it. You think that sleeping outdoors is fine, and others don't undertand. You think that WBBB's and UQ's and TQ's and suspensions and SWT's and all that lingo is cool, and that lighting a fire and making coffee is terrific and hot chockolate on the burner is wonderful and stars and coyotes and howls and growls are good things, and that fresh air and silence is good for the soul...
People who like this stuff, well, they're just weird. "Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood, And they don't knnow how to rest. If they just went straight they might go far; they are strong and brave and true; But they're always tired of the things that are, Andthey want the strange and new."
Folks, don't make fun of those others, and don't laugh off the "madness," like its a fair thing. You're taking a risk sleeping outside, so be prepared to pay the price. "...He's a rolling stone, and it's bred in the bone; He's a man who won't fit in."
Sailor, I think you just called me weird, but dang if it wasn't the nicest way I've heard it said. Going to find a book by Service at the library.
Robert Service is a poet possibly best known for his epic classic the Cremation of Sam McGee. He really was a voice of America during his lifetime.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

Myke- What do you mean by "When will this end". I'm not familiar with this term. To be honest that statement is kinda scary.
I can speak from memory a number of RS poems, including CSMG, BBB, and GFDL, and there is no better poet of the northwestern spirit than that man. We'll need to get together 'round the camp fire. The Colelcted Poems is my #1 book, its been on many many trips with me, and it should get us through a lot of rounds of hooch.
There are strange things done in the midnight sun by the men who moil for gold...
Robert Service, Vaughn Short and Edward Abby are tops among my outdoor reading
It's just a ride and we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money, a choice, right now, between fear and love.
Er, yeah . .. my last hang, my best friend and I got smashingly drunk on good whiskey and brawled. I bled into his eye while choking him out, that makes us blood brothers . . . right? Madness. Madness? It was a fight club kinda thing and we are both feeling pretty good. That was the last weekend before my son came and his son will be here soon. Good to get one more GREAT hang in before the swarm of diapers and . .. such, that come with having an infant.
Edward Abbey has always been my hero...maybe now I've found another.
