I suggest you ask the repair guy why and what caused this problem so you don’t end up in the same situation again.

Are you trying to imply that sewing through 3 layers of PolyD, 3 layers of bamboo rayon, and 3 layers of fleece is too much?!?!

Could be but whatever caused it could also have happened prior to the incident and it was the last drop.
I have a feeling the nylon and poly materials we use wear more on our machines than we think. It may be thin materials but the weave is tight and it creates friction and friction creates wear. At some point something have to give. Most of us have also sewn in webbing and it does not help at all.

I am not talking about your machine specific but unless there is a manufacturing fault on parts or an assembly fault things don’t break by them self there is always a cause. For the most part it because it was used for something it wasn’t intended for.
I think most of us have been in a situation where we had to help the machine with the hand wheel. Think of the diameter of the hand wheel and how much force you had to apply. This forces has to be transferred to tiny nylon gears inside machine so it’s not surprising something slips or crack sometimes.
We get what we pay for like it or not.
I am no better myself. My machine isn’t what it used to be.

I always use the biggest needle I can. That seems to prevent a lot of troubles. I forget the size , but it's an upholstery needle.
Nine layers of anything sound like a big order. I don't know that I've ever tried that. My friend runs an upholstery shop and his machine can do that. I wouldn't think a home machine could.
