I though it looked neat but I would think it would really only be needed in the tropics. Then I saw the weight. What is the floor made out of that makes a bugnet weigh 2 pounds 12 ounces?

I like it but is the floor really necessary? As long as the netting touches the ground it should keep the bugs out. I've been thinking of making something like this, without a floor or zipper. Thanks for posting it, gives me an idea on how to do the ends.

The ends are what caught my eye. they look cool. I don't think the net has to go to the ground at all, Just be closed up on the bottom.

It could just be in the netting depending on the density of the net. I made a DIY net for my ENO out of a military surplus cot netting ... the kind used in field hospital beds. A very heavy finely spaced net. Not sure that's the issue here but that's a lot of netting. Then it could be a piece of canvas or heavy nylon flooring.

I am sure the poles are part of the weight. Looks kinda cool though!

After reading the description, I don't believe the floor is to keep out bugs as much as to have a clean spot to deposit gear, etc.
