I'm considering picking up a cuben fiber winter palace for coverage of two 11' hammocks, and was wondering if the 11' winter palace would be ok or is 12' better?

The width remains the same for both but the 12' will require you to have the tarp higher to prevent interference with the hammock suspensions.
Greater width with bigger doors is what you really need so you can pitch it wider and still close the doors.
I doubt it will make much difference. It's strictly a fair-weather solution - two hammocks under one tarp.

I checked the numbers and the 11' winter palace is only 2" wider on each side compared to the superfly which I currently have (5'2" versus 5', respectively), so it doesn't seem I would gain much coverage going to a winter palace with the same 11' ridgeline. thought a 12' WP would help for 2 hammocks but doesn't sound like it would help much.
I can't see it making much difference. A 12 ft. ridgeline will just limit your tree selection. I don't personally think either the Superfly or Winter Palace would provide adequate protection to two hangers in wind-blown precipitation (though both provide excellent protection for one hanger). However, if you're just going to use it for fair weather, it shouldn't matter.

thanks for the info. I have better luck convincing the wife to go hammock camping if I can make both hammocks fit under one tarp. we've done it with the superfly in fair weather, but as you've mentioned, it doesn't seem ideal for foul weather.
