This is a perspective thing, I reckon...I'm 64. A couple years ago, I'm taking a day walk over hill and dale on watershed lands and am about 8 miles into a 10 mile walk, when the about 30 year old ranger lass intercepts and quizzes me about past and present intentions. I let on that I'm homeward bound, a couple to go, all fine and thank-you-very-much. At which point, she looks up at me and asks (worriedly), "Will you be ok?" I took that to suggest she thought I should have a name tag and home phone pinned to my shirt. Her perspective vs. mine, and I felt suddenly so old. So, yes Shug, "we sure hope for that.....we do."
I try to walk young when I see or hike with anyone under 30. Sometimes it take effort...sometimes not. Depends on what I have been doing weeks prior.

Went backpacking with my friend James at Shades State Park in Indiana. James is about 30. We met two guys his age and after seeing our camp they thought James was the one with the hammock and the 65 yr old had the tent. We explained otherwise. So, I guess I wasn't hiking young enough Shug. What's up with that!
