    Camping with the Wife!

I decided to take my wife camping at the Congaree National Park. I have been there a bunch of times and have always had a good time.

We started out by setting up camp. I hung my Claytor JH hung next to my WarBonnet BlackBird Under a Claytor 3X4 Big Fly.

Then I grilled up some Bubba Burgers for lunch. Mmmm....
After lunch it was nap time. My wife actually fell asleep in the BlackBird.
I was very proud. That was her first experience in a hammock.

We were then attacked by a swarm of Asian LadyBeetles. There were hundreds of thousands of them. I'm not kidding at all.

We figured we would go for a nice walk on the board walk and maybe they would be gone when we came back. That was not the case.

There were so many of them all over us. They got in my shirt, in my pants, and in my underwear. They Bite............

We decided that we had enough fun for the day and we packed up and headed home in time to catch the ball game (Carolina Game Cocks) and hand out candy to the trick or treaters.

So it was a good experience even though we didn't spend the night.

Here is a link to the pictures!!

Nice pictures. I know what you mean about those beetles biting, they're thick here in Illinois, too.

Be careful, soon you won't be able to take a trip without the wife! It could already be too late!

Wow! Hats off to your wife. ZQ would have been home in a flash. I've seen swarms of insects on camping/hiking trips, flying citronella ants, gnats, mosquitos, bees, flies, and ladybugs...and they all give me the creeps. Makes you want to get a headnet!

Cool pics and thanks for the report.

But ... I have one question. Carolina plays football?! News to me!!! LOL

And for what it's worth (given the thread title), my wife and I also camped out Friday night at the Stone Door in the Savage Gulf here in Tennessee. Alas, we were in a big tent.

I'm still working on getting mine out, she's pretty much domesticated.

I'm hoping to put the pressure on, by way of the kids. They LOVE the hammock.

It's pics and stories like this one, that gets her thinking!

Thanks for sharing. Perhaps I'll get a chance to hang with ya' at an upcoming group hang. Congaree looks like a great place to explore.

    Hangin' Burrito,
You're close enough to take her to Jones Gap State Park in SC. I recommend Campsite #6. Secluded little spot next to the Middle Saluda River and a short walk to the restroom. I camped there in October and if I stood in just the right spot at night, I could see a flicker from the next campsite up the trail.
