    hex tarp on ground

    Ok yes I know it this says dd tarp but there are some videos on setups here that could be modified I'm sure
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6OjoO6JavoY

    For some reason the link I was trying to put up didn't want to work.

    I do remember pitching my hammock and tarp using walking poles and it worked really well. Very close to the ground and rather cramped but it did stay up and my hammock remained off the ground.
    Just make sure your walking poles don't shrink under pressure lol

    If its the "Double Wide" 12' long, 10' wide with 6' sides, HH hex tarp; then this setup could work really well for you;

Of course, this would depend on which way the wind blows and which way the rain would fall, but this ought to give you plenty of space in a sort of half-whelen lean to shape...

    EDIT: heres a quick sketch of what I am visualizing, complete with steps

    Wow. That's nice. Thanks.

    I would never have thought of that pitch.

    Another nice one. Thats the flying V. Drawn to scale I can see that it would probably work well. I made some scaled paper cut outs about 6 months ago but never came up with either of the ideas youve shown.

    Did anyone try this? Pictures?

    I was planning on selling my Hex tarp as I find myself going to the ground more often than not and buying a Zpacks 6 x 9 rectangle for kind of dual purpose tarp.

    Thanks everyone for the ideas. I have several now to try and they all seem like they will work. I appreciate your help with this.

    I'm planning to try it this weekend possibly. I lent my nice hammock rig to my wife and my other one to my daughter. I'll try one of these tarp pitches since I have a couple of Hennessy hex tarps.

    Can't see previous pics on the network I'm on right now so this may have already been shown but I've doe this with a hex tarp before.

    The rear pole isn't really necessary, was just trying it for a little more foot room. Can be done with a single pole and guyline and at least 4 stakes. The one shown is a very small tarp, maybe a 7' ridgeline, and I think it's work better with a hammock size tarp. Positioned correctly there's was enough room for me to lay comfortably (I'm about 5'11).
