The key might be choosing an airport near (or in the driving route of) someone who you can car pool with. Of course there's always the car rental thing, but parking can become somewhat limited for a large group, & we don't know what the road conditions will be like.
Another option would be to meet up w/ someone at a "not to far away" location & carpool from there.
A couple places that come to mind on the east & west side of the park entrance are...
East... The Log Cabin Restaurant on Hwy 58, about a 20 minute drive from GHSP (Greyson Highlands State Park).
West... The town of Damascus, probably an hour or so from GHSP.
There may be better options for those coming from the north, but I'm not sure what roads they will be taking in.
BTW... in case you're wondering why I didn't mention coming in from the south, you can't get there that way
Southerners have to come in from the east or west.

Used to be there was a little airport in Groseclose, just outside Marion on Rt 81. Its not a commercial airport but if you have access to small planes, I think it is closer than Tri-cities.

This is gonna be awesome! I remember the ponies from when I was there this past summer.

Yeah, last time the ponies visited individual sites and ate anything left unattended. Gotta keep a clean camp when they're around or they'll clean it up for you. I saw one tip over a camp stove and eat the tea bag inside.
