jscalia, I got down to the low 20s with my three season quilts (JRB) and fleece pants/expedition weight base layer, fleece beanie, and two pair wool socks. I am typically cold easily. I did have a little breeze so put a poncho over the bottom quilt. We woke to ice on the lake, on the trail, in the platypus, and little frozen drops of condensation on the DWR of the underquilt; the poncho had a few ounces of condensation collected in it. (Not my driducks, but a heavier one I had around.) I was on the cool side of my comfort zone but not cold.

I did eat several ounces of cheddar, a bunch of crackers, almonds and other snack foods, and drink two nice hot deluxe chocolate drinks plus a warm 8 oz of Emergen-C to be sure I was adequately hydrated.

I do wonder about the BA pad - on other forums I've read mixed reviews on them in very cold weather. I wonder if you had had a couple of CCF pads if the result would have been the same.
