    Falling

Has anyone fallen out of their hammock? Embarrassingly or just a stumble counts.
Is it harder to fall out of an asym tied down hammock? Are bridge hammocks the most stable? I would like to know how easy it is to fall out of a hammock. Getting in, getting out, sleeping when it is windy etc.
    Thanks!
(This really isn't important but if anyone has stories share them!)
    Peace -Peanutdude

The is a picture somewhere in the gallery of Hooch in the process of falling out a couple of years ago.

Genuine Draft once sat down in her hammock only to discover it was the SnugFit she was sitting on. She missed the hammock entirely. It was on the slope behind Overmountain Shelter and gravity is a ***** for a sleepy hanger that misses her hammock on a slope.

Think I might have peed myself a little I was laughing so hard that night.

I'm asked about this from time to time by non-hammockers. I've never fallen out, or had the hammock fall with me. Whether this is dumb luck or a testimony to the hammock suspension I've used, not sure, but thinking it's a combo of the two. The not-hammocking contingent seems to think they will roll out or the hammock will swing and drop them, but neither of those scenarios has come close to happening to me. Even broadside against a strong wind I've been stable - when I'm not in the hammock it whips around impressively, tho.

OOOh-yes, I have some trees up at camp that I usually hang my rig off of and they are a good distance apart. So I have to hang the hammock up pretty high to account for streach and sag to keep it off the ground when I get in it. Late one night after getting up to take care of matters and walking around gazing at stars for a bit. I went to get back in the hammock, pulled it down low enough to drop in, turned around with my back to the hammock a dropped down with my butt in the center and lifted my legs at the same time. The hammock dropped and then rebounded back up launching me upwards and backwards into a backflip. I think maybe I did a 1 1/2 gainer kind of sort of, but I was to stunned to accurately keep count. Just glad there was'nt anybody else around to appreciate it. (this was using 1/2 polyweave rope for the rigging) Made a nice human slingshot out of me.

I've tried to fall out of my hammock but failed
Usually when reaching down to get something off the ground. My feet head up in the air but my rear end stays firmly in the hammock.
I hang my gathered end hammocks with a whole lot of sag so that may help stabilize things a bit.

I've taken the slow ride down the strap/ring-buckle elevator (more than once too, you'd think I'd remember to tie the half-hitch) and once landed in the bugnet of my Byer Mosquito (don't know if that counts...I never actually fell out, but I can attest, the bug net will hold up to 175lbs for a few seconds )
