For my abilities, and I consider myself pretty adept at craftsmenship (at least for carpentry and rebuilding engines) I would lay down the extra $100 for Luke's OEM tarp or the Bearpaw Wilderness Designs custom tarp.

I will take cataraftgals suggestion with WL and talk to HG about a short ridgeline WP again after the first of the year.
I'm with ya there, I also calculated the materials cost at Ripstop by the roll and for my time and effort I would be miles ahead to just buy the tarp that matches the hammock.

From tents to hammocks to hammock tents, I am so confused and my wallet hates all of you. I wonder if I can get my Kelty Teton2 to hang up in the air and just use the fly as a tarp, hmmmmmmm.Rick..

Super satisfied: D ..... hung up right after work today both without sleeping and my Exped hyper little down LW pad.

Will get out in the wood ... bikepacking with this hammock.

Will run with AMOK tarp for now .... think this will fit as they are based on the same type of hang.

Will write a review shortly here, and here:

I enjoyed your video! It is fantastic that you are getting the kids out in the woods, the wintry woods at that. Great job teaching them how to properly lay a fire with only the basics.

I also deployed and slept with my Exped Downmat UL 7 as insulation in my Luke's 90 degree hammock last night. I've been experimenting with a variety of under warmth options. The Downmat provide an excellent night both for warmth and for support without the squeeze.

You have some really nice pictures! I see you also have a "teepee" style pyramid tent. My favourite tent both for work and for play was a Golite silnylon Hex3. Looks very similar to your tent except the door is a little different. I had Bear Paw Wilderness Designs make me a Cuben Fiber hextent that is the same size as my Golite Hex3 so I can use the Bugnest, Floor, and a Half Bugnest (I had a bugnest cut in two) in either the CF hexatent or the Hex3. Most of the time I use the hextents without any floor so that my border collies don't make a mess. And believe me, after a day on the trail they can pack a lot of dirt and debris around.

I also notice that your wife appears to be either of Asian or possibly Lapland ancestry? My wife is originally from Korea. You are very fortunate that you wife and kids enjoy getting out in the mountains together. My wife wouldn't sleep out in a tent or hammock for all the tea in China, so to speak. But then again she is very much a "people" person and has been called the "Bozeman Welcome Wagon" due to her extroverted and hospitable personality. I guess she makes up for some of my shortcomings ;-)

My wife is 50% Chinese 50% taiwan ... and she really likes to be out in the woods, so we try to get out as much as possible with and without children.

I have GoLite SL3 and SL5 .....SL5 it has become mostly when the whole family out.
Now, however, we have upgraded with a seek outside 6 person tipitent, which I'm very happy with.

The wife was so pleased with her 90 Hammock Gamma, so it will probably be three more to the rest of us
