My daughter and I had a great time this weekend at Savage Gulf. We hiked from the Stone Door Ranger Station to the Sawmill campsite and enjoyed a nice overnighter in our hammocks. We were surprised to find that we were the only campers there Friday night. When I went online to make my reservations a couple of weeks ago, only three of the nine total spots were still available. (NOTE: Tennessee began requiring folks to make reservations online the first week in Sep. Before that it was a first come first served...its ok if you guys stay with us since all of the sites are taken kind of scenario). While you can make reservations, you can't cancel them, thus releasing your campsite back to someone who would actually use it. I stopped by the Ranger Station on the way out to comment on the shortfall and met three fellas that had driven up from Nashville and were being denied the opportunity to camp because they weren't quicker on the keyboard than the folks that decided not to camp (there were eight no shows in the Sawmill area alone!) Ok...rant over...
Jinx and I had a great time enjoying the views, the temperature, and the SOLITUDE (lol).
Hope you like the video.
