I assume you at talking about point B where the water is. Is there parking and a trail from the road there? I have only been to the trailhead. I am using this map.

December is always up in the air with my job, but all the weekends in January I'm free. As far as location , I'm open to just about anywhere.
It's been about a year since I've been down there, but, if you're referring to Zaleski State Forest, right next door to Lake Hope, that is not good! If you do mean Lake Hope, proper, than consider Zaleski as an option. (It's been wow a while since I've been in this forum, for that, I'm sorry to butt in unannounced or unintroduced. I did a winter hang over in Germantown, the Metro Park, there, last year with a few of the fellow hangers. That was my first "social hang". Since then, my focus has been on bicycle events)

Both Zaleski state forest and Mohican state forest are excellent locations for winter hangs, we would basically have either place to ourselves that time of year. Both lend themselves to those who like to hike/backpack and both have optional shortcut access under a mile. Both have large enough sites to accommodate a large group of hangers.

Looks like the weekend of December 25th is not going to be good for anyone (go figure), and my calendar is filling up, so as of now I am only available 18-20 unless I go for just a Friday over night on the 4th or 11th. With the 4th only a week after the November hang the 11th or the 18th may make more sense. A single night may be my best option anyway with all things considered, but would make a longer travel to southern Ohio not as practical for me. So I would lean towards Mohican as that seems to have been acceptable to all. As for which site, I have only seen 8, 9, and 10, any of which seem good with 8 being a bit smaller and not suited to a large group of 8 or more but a nice fire ring area. I have heard good things about 1, 2, and 3 but a water crossing may not be optimal depending on temp and water depth. Has anyone been to 7? It’s off by its self and the satellite image looks to have an open a clearing, is it hammock-able? Anyway it seems there some interest in getting something in for December; I was thinking that there might be none. Keep-up the chatter and we’ll work on a general consensus for a date in the next few weeks.
So far for December I have;
Dates - 4, 11, 18, 25
Diz* - Fri, Fri, possible, NO
Daneaustin3 - Maybe, maybe, maybe, seriously?
1csleponkayak – in, in, in, no
Revsbentley – open, open, open, out
Hobopelican – works, works, works, no go
Banerstone – any chance at all?
Mboom – up in the air
Ironlungs – any preference?

Like Diz* my December has filled up fast. My son is coming in for two weeks from California so the two weekends before Christmas are a no go and the first week is just after our Nov. outing and I can't be gone two weeks in a row so my Dec. is a no go.
Hey new to the forum here. I should be able to do any weekend in January. I'd love to get out with a
Sorry to hear that RevB is now out for December! Hopefully we will see you in November and can get you to come in January.

I'd been to camp 7 a few years ago when I was a ground dweller. To me, it seemed small, if you are considering 8 hangers or so. But then, I wasn't considering hanging in a hammock, back then. ...I've repented. ;-). I have no problem with Mohican, Zaleski, anywhere. I do have to consider Christmas, January 6th (wife's b'day), and I will need to calculate my on call week.
