Hello everyone! New to the camping and backpacking world. Decided I wanted to hammock camp from the get go instead of tent camping, so I've been in the process of gathering some gear. So far I have the WBBB Double 1.7 with whoopie slings, the Warbonnet Superfly tarp, the Phoenix 20 with 1oz overfill under quilt , the Burrow 20 with 1oz overfill top quilt. Haven't done much camping yet, as I just got married a month ago, but have spent a few nights in the hammock in my backyard. It isn't quite cold enough here yet to have needed the top and under quilt, but I look forward to trying those out as well. I'm also trying to get my wife involved in hanging with me, bought her the same setup, but she's not sure about how well she'll do sleeping outside. Was hoping to make the state hang this year but it's the same weekend as the MSU vs Alabama football, so we couldn't make it. Look forward to learning from you guys and hopefully making some friends and eventually meeting on the trail.

Welcome sir from a fellow hammock lover. Let me officially invite you to the 2nd Annual MS Hammock Hangers Association Group Hang this next month. There is a link in my signature to the planning thread. It will be in the Homochitto National Forest outside Meadeville, basically between Brookhaven and Natchez. Your spouse is very much encouraged to come. There will be many of us guys with extra gear enough in tow to outfit her in comfort should she decide to hang and tents are welcomed but will be ribbed a bit just for good natured fun. Always happy to have newbies at the hangs and you will not be alone as there are several others attending and other spouses too.

I'll be at the game. Her parents get season tickets, so we usually attend all the home games. I really wish I could be at the statewide hang, hopefully next year though.

Just a heads up: There will likely be a Louisiana hang in February and there may even be a Sipsey hang in January and certainly a Sipsey hang in the spring. Lots of opportunities within a reasonable driving distance to meet some of the nicest guys and gals around.

Welcome to the Forums! The weather's changing fast so i bet you'll get to use those quilts pretty soon lol. I hope your wife enjoys hammock'n. If she likes tent camping, then she should love the comfort of a hammock.
