    Halloween hang at Raven Cliffs

What a weekend! Lots of good food, good folks and a variety of weather. Friday was beautiful, Saturday was Sunny and cloudy, Saturday night light rain for several hours, Sunday morning everything was dripping off the nights rain, that is except the people, everyones spirits were high. Well, to be honest several of our number elected to retreat late Saturday evening to avoid the rain, but those who weathered it out were doing fine. After plenty of time spent eating breakfast, drinking coffee, and visiting, we began to pack up to leave. I will take this time to thank some great people for pitching in and helping Georgia Girl and myself out with our gear. Peanuts, Squidibilly GrannyPat and Gene, Maytag and Jan, made sure we got everything out and packed. Could we have done it without them? I guess we could have, except that Friday evening just before dark, I tripped on a stone, fell, and cracked a rib. I wasn't debilitated, but was sure moving slow. Thank again folks. But really, as I drove toward home I reflected that what happened to me was nothing other than the true spirit of helping when help was called for, I hope I always take the time to return that to whoever I am with that needs it.
May tag showed up wit a bit of fire wood, it lasted three nights and left someone else a pile for a nice camp fire, thanks Jeff!
Squidibilly mad chili Fri. night, good, good, good!
Sat. evening Maddog made Roosevelt Beans, out of sight! Plus a first timer named Chuck pulled out a pot of show quality chile, and folks sure seemed to enjoy it, I know I sure did.
There were a lot of other sweet items and savory items prepare by others that rounded out every meal.
I almost forgot, Maytag and Jan made fried pies in their camp and delivered them hot to the camp fire area where they went over very well. I didn't count, but I think six disappeared down my gullet.
For every thing that I forgot to mention I apologize to each of you who worked hard to provide it.
We hosted some first timers, some hangers who had never been to a hang, and plenty of veteran hangers, and I truly enjoyed every one of you who sat down in my camp and shared my table and shelter, you helped make this event wonderful for Carol and I.
Mention must be made of LazyBee's ghosts in the trees, spectacular!
Thank you again everyone for a great trip, rib and all.
P.S. Someone please post some pictures as I can't.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

My wife and I had a great time as well. Could only stay one night due to a prior commitment. Glad to hear about the group effort to get you guys loaded back up, Old4hats! Hope you feel better soon, and get back to your plan.

So many trails, so little time...

A Pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An Optimist see the light at the end of the tunnel. The Realist sees the train. But the Engineer just sees 3 idiots standing on the tracks.
    Which one are you?

be-bop bat.JPG We had a great time! I think the funniest thing was watching Be-Bop jump off a box with his bat wings. He looked like a flying monkey taking off. He was flying! Squidbilly, I can't access your pictures. It wants a password.

sorry I didn't make it. By the time I came off the AT I was so tired. Those 21 miles really took it out on this Florida boy. I did stop by on Thursday and meet some good folks. Also that is a awesome spot.
