Hi, I am 58 and my best friend from Texas ( I am too, born and raised in Waco) are going to hike the AT for the first time ever in April. We are gathering our equipment, she going with a tent and I am going with a hammock. We are going for 7-10 days and hoping to get 75 miles under our belt!! I have a very good friend here that is helping me with hammock hanging but I also want to go to some meet ups if I am saying that right , to practice and show everyone just how much I don't know. Lol. Thanks for letting me join!!

Wow, that's unfortunate - born in Texas and stuck in Alabama! I was also born in Texas (Lufkin), then moved to Alabama when I was 6 years old and lived there until I was 20 - so I consider myself an Alabamian (War Eagle!).
